KALONA ? Clara V. Miller, 92, of Kalona, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, at the Sharon Bethel Church in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the Sharon Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and Mercy Hospital Foundation with monies directed to the Mercy Hospice Care Unit. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Miller was born March 3, 1924, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of William and Emma (Nisly) Miller. She married Levi Miller on Feb. 20, 1949, in Kalona.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting. She made many quilts, giving them to family and to missions. She was a member of the Sharon Bethel Church and was active in the church sewing group.
Surviving are her husband, Levi, of Kalona; four children, James Miller and wife Melody of Kalona, Phil Miller of Kalona, Nathan Miller and wife Cheri of Kalona, and Emma Stutzman and husband Phil of Montrose, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and 12 brothers and sisters, Bill Miller, Paul Miller, Ellen Morehouse, Fred Miller, Daniel Miller, Eli Miller, Katie Miller, Amos Miller, Ida Trout, Fern Swartz, Rose Bontrager, and Joe Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Ira Miller.
