Clarence Junior Brown, age 94, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Washington County Hospital & Clinics.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 on Thursday morning prior to the service. Memorials have been established for the Kewash Nature Trail. Clarence was born July 27, 1930, at the family farmhouse in Brighton, Iowa, to Clarence and Clara (Palm) Brown. Clarence served honorably in the United States Army in the Korean conflict from 1951 to 1953. On November 21, 1953, Clarence married Pauline Kolosick in Hastings, Nebraska.
After their marriage, Clarence and Pauline moved to Washington, where they built their life together. From 1994 until 2021, they spent their winters as snowbirds in Ft. Myers and Zephyr Hills, Florida. Clarence was the owner and operator of Brown’s Heating and Cooling for 32 years, retiring in 1997 after dedicating 50 years to the trade.
Clarence was a devoted member of the First Christian Church. He had a passion for golf and was a proud member of the Washington Country Club for 50 years. He served as the past president of the Noon Kiwanis Club and was a council member of the Washington City Council for four years, making significant contributions to his community. Clarence also volunteered and made donations to the Kewash Nature Trail, and was a member of the Spokebusters Bike Club, riding RAGBRAI for 11 years.
He is survived by his two daughters and one son-in-law: Jody (John) Tolander of Swedesburg, Iowa, and Tracy Fagen of Keota, Iowa; four grandchildren: Shaun Wagler of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Brooke (Scott) Hodge of Cartersville, Georgia; Jamie (Phil) Harris of Washington, Iowa; and Jeff (Lydia) Fagen of Ankeny, Iowa; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Other survivors include one brother, Dale (Joyce) Brown, and one nephew, Glen Mullikin, Jr.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Pauline Brown, in 2024; three brothers: Leland, Doyle, and Kenneth; and three sisters: Virginia Carris, Leila Mullikin, and Josephine Green.
