KEOTA ? Cleo Baughman, 91, of Washington, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Robert Spilger officiating. Burial will be at Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski, Tenn. Visitation will be from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the family. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Baughman was born Feb. 8, 1924, in rural Keota, the son of Curvin and Margaret (Seitsinger) Baughman. He married Katie Wiser on July 12, 1969.
He graduated from North English High School. He served in the Army during World War II. He returned to Keokuk County and farmed for several years. He then moved to Moline, Ill., where he was a welder for the McLaughlin Company. After their marriage, he and his wife lived in Rock Island, Ill., and Huntsville, Ala. After her death, he moved to Washington. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, gardening, flowers, and telling stories, and was an avid collector of many things.
Surviving are one daughter, Denise Baughman Montano of Phoenix, Ariz.; one stepson, Kerry Drew Tucker of Tennessee; one stepdaughter, Marcelene Juniper of Keota; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Daryl Baughman and wife Irene of Keota; two sisters, Leita Manthei, and Margaret Harriman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katie; three brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Cloyce Baughman; one sister, Marjorie (Mrs. Laymon) Coble; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Manthei, and Dale Harriman; and one nephew.
