Clifford was born September 18, 1940, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clifford Wilbur and Frances Pauline (Derby) Leeper. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1958. Clifford was married to Evelyn Marie Roberts with whom he had 3 beautiful children. They divorced in 1976. In 1976, he married Ann Lord Colton. They divorced in 1988.
Clifford farmed with his family in Brighton, Iowa. He also worked at Louden’s in Fairfield, Iowa. In 1980 he moved to Texas, where he worked as a contractor siding homes throughout Texas for nearly 40 years. Following his retirement he moved to Washington, Iowa.
Clifford was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed building and crafting things with his hands. His accomplishments included small jewelry boxes, a sword and shield for his grandkids, as well as numerous unique furniture pieces. Clifford was a true outdoorsman. He sat on many river banks from Iowa to Texas trying to catch “the big one.” Clifford had a passion for arrowhead hunting, finding his first arrowhead when he was eight years old. He was hooked for the rest of his life and would stop tractors to go hunt for arrowheads. Clifford also enjoyed mushroom hunting and knew the hot spots of where to find them. He was always happy to share in his loot. His final and most important treasure was his family. He enjoyed listening to all their stories and sharing his adventures in fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Lucia) Leeper of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Anetia (Dale) Woodsmall of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Pamela (Steven) Roth of Richmond, Texas; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Beth (Bill) Johnson of Urbandale, Iowa; and sister, Leloni Clark of Big Springs, Texas.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn; and brothers, Benjamin and Charles.
