Clifford "Nick" Wayne Nichols, 76, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at his home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Jackson officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Peoples Church or Noah's Arc and mailed to Judith Nichols, 1565 Hwy. 34, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Nick was born March 27, 1945, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Francis W. and Margaret (Smith) Nichols. He married Judith Helen Merrill on Sept. 1, 1967.

Nick served in the National Guard for six years. He was a machinist for 10 years at Rockwell and 30 years at John Deere. Nick enjoyed antiquing and going mushroom hunting. Nick was an Iowa Hawkeye fan, New York Yankees fan and collected International memorabilia. He was a member of the Peoples Church, Batavia.

Nick will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Judith Nichols of Fairfield; his daughter, Heather Palmer; two grandsons, Tyler Palmer and Caden Mineart; and his puppy, Phoebe.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Margaret.
