Cloyce Rolland “Rollie” Dunbar, born January 1, 1943, in Susanville, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 28, 2026, at the age of 83, at The University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Rollie spent most of his life in Washington, Iowa, where he owned and operated Dunbar Construction, before retiring to Moline, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Dunbar, of the home. He is also survived by his children, Lori Fritz and Lisa McDowell (Tom). His family includes grandchildren Joey Fritz (Charlie), Noah Eastman (Kate), Niles Eastman, William Eastman (Laura), Claire Lamb, Katie Lamb, and Marin Lamb. His great-grandchildren are Henry Fritz, Robbie Fritz, Cael Eastman, Foster Eastman, and Sage Lamb.

Rollie is further survived by his siblings Mary Redlinger (Ron), Martha Jirsa (Tom), Deb Watson, and Kevin Dunbar, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel “Telford” Dunbar and Cloyce Dunbar; his siblings David Dunbar, Ellen O’Dean (David), and Fred Dunbar; his infant daughter Janie Dunbar; and his grandson Adam Dunbar.

Burial will be in Ainsworth, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
