Cora V. Foster, 86, of Winfield died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Honts Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cairo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Honts Funeral Home with family present from 1 p.m. until the service on Thursday. A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Foster was born Aug. 15, 1913, near Wapello, the daughter of George and Anna Shephard Keever. She married Omer Nelson on Feb. 4, 1932, at Monmouth, Ill. She later married Leonard Foster in 1965. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, and was a member of a senior citizens band. She also enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a stepmother, Edith Keever of Stronghurst, Ill.; a daughter, Shirley Hudson of Winfield; a son, Lewis Nelson of Burlington; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; five half-brothers, Robert, Lyle, and Lloyd Keever of Gladstone, Ill., Albert and Milton Keever of Oquwaka, Ill.; two half-sisters, Ruby Gaddis of Hannibal, Mo. and Bessie Slover of Oquawka, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; an infant son; an infant great-grandson; two half-brothers, Fred and Donald Keever; three brothers, Johnny and Harley Keever and an infant.
