Corinne Mae Phelps, age 90, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Calling hours will begin 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Corinne was born November 17, 1934, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Arlo and Bertha Christine (Galle) Phelps. She graduated from Washington High School in 1952.

Corinne lived all of her adult life in Washington where she was employed at J.C. Penney’s, worked in food service at the Washington Junior High School and retired from the United Presbyterian Home where she worked in food service.

She enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. She enjoyed her many seasonal window decorations and when she was able, she loved caring for her cats.

Corinne is survived by a brother, Charles Phelps and wife Lois of Winfield, Iowa; brother-in-law, Leroy Havel of Washington, Iowa; nephew, Terry Phelps and wife Barbara of Winfield, Iowa; niece Christine Peek and husband Allen of Winfield, Iowa; and many great-nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Colleen Havel on August 22, 2018.
