It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cortney Heather Schaffer Haynes of Fairfield, Iowa, on April 9, 2023, at the age of 30. Born May 20, 1992, Chicago, IL, Cortney filled our lives with love from the moment she came into the world. Cortney's "CoCo" good humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Always ready for adventure, Cortney never let life's challenges hold her back. Often referred to being formidable with a great smile.

Cortney is survived by her son, Tristan Lee Schaffer; parents, Charles and Sheila Schaffer; grandparents, Michael and Brenda Japczyk; sisters, Nicole Japczyk, Jessica Japczyk Ball (Brad Ball) and Stephani Schaffer; boyfriend, Joey Mickels; and many nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.

Preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Edward and Ida Japczyk, and Savanna Lowe Yantorn.

A Celebration of Life is going to be held at 1 p.m. May 20, at Jefferson County Park, Fairfield, Iowa.
