Craig Eugene Morgan, 84, of rural Richland, died Sunday night, Jan. 26, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He was born Jan. 28, 1935, near Rubio, to Charles Eugene and Kathleen Viola Jay Morgan. Craig grew up in Clay Township, east of Rubio, and attended Richland High School. He married Sarah Mae Lowe in Rubio April 10, 1954. She died May 26, 2004. Craig farmed all of his life, as the sixth generation to farm Valley View Farms, which was settled in 1839 by his ancestors. He was active in his community serving as a township trustee, election board member, school board member, cattleman's association member and attended Friends Church. He loved his family, farming, raising cattle, horses, dogs, wildlife and country music. Craig was a natural mechanic and welder, often stopping whatever he was doing to help family and friends fix what was broken.

Craig is survived by his daughter, Beverly Petersen (Terry) of Letts; son, Dale of Brighton; grandson, Shayne Leathers (Janna) of Cary, N.C.; sister, Colleen Kimble (Byron) of Richland; sister-in-law, Karen Morgan of Keota; and nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Shirley; and his brother, Larry.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials to Hospice Compassus or the Rubio Ladies Club may be mailed to the family at 1130 310th St., Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Richland is assisting the family.
