D. Hope Spray

Dorothy Hope Spray, 88 of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Dec. 6, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday Dec. 10, at Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Spray was born June 2, 1919 in Ft. Madison, the daughter of William and Hazel Nye Bye. On Feb. 14, 1951, she married Samuel Robert Spray in Kirksville, Mo.

Before her marriage, she worked at Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison for 14 years; afterward, she helped her husband on the family farm near Hillsboro. She was a member of the Alpha Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Ewing and her husband Lee of Stockport and Dee Ann Patterson and her husband Mark of Wilton; two brothers, Gary Bye of Cedar Rapids and Larry Bye of Ft. Madison; one sister, Margaret Vice of Ft. Madison; and two grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, brother Bobby and sister Maxine preceded her in death.
