Dale Eugene Longwell passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was born in a farmhouse west of Wellman, IA, on June 2, 1941. He was a graduate of
Wellman High School, Iowa Wesleyan College (University) and obtained his MBA in finance from the University
of Iowa. He was employed by Capital Savings & Loan for
20 years, followed by several years with Broeg & Associates. He spent the
latter part of his career as an entrepreneur, where he founded several start-up companies while also working as a consultant for LegalShield, assisting small business employees.
Dale was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, annually delivering food for their Old Threshers church tent for the past 25 years. He rarely missed a sporting event of his children and grandchildren, often making the drive to Cedar Rapids multiple times a week to catch his grandson's games and events.
Dale married Nancy Brown at St. Alphonsus Church in Mount Pleasant, Iowa on August 20, 1966. They have two children, Jim (Julie) Longwell of Lakewood, CO and Mike (Dawn) Longwell of Ely, IA. They have four grandchildren - Ashley Longwell of Lakewood, CO, Brandon (Anna) Yale of Ponte Vedra, FL, and Aaron & Adam Longwell of Ely, IA.
Surviving Dale is his wife of 55 years, Nancy Longwell; and his children and grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Longwell of St. Paul, MN and Lorraine Longwell of Marion, IA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, A.G. "Ham" and Ellavene (O'Brien) Longwell of Wellman, IA.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 9, at Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 607 S. Jackson St., on Monday, January 10 at 10 a.m.
