Dale R. McSorley, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
A graveside funeral service for Dale will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, at the Bethel Cemetery, rural Wapello, IA. Friends may call from 2 PM to 8 PM on Monday, September 5 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday.

Dale Russell McSorley was born July 8, 1958, in Jacksonville, FL, as his father was stationed there with the US Navy. He was the son of Jimmie Lynn and Maxine Joy (Jamison) McSorley. As a young child, Dale moved with his family back to Iowa. He graduated from Winfield High School.
Dale married Velda White. The couple later divorced. The then married Pam Chapman. The couple later divorced. Dale then married Dawn Stewart, and the couple later divorced.
At age 19, Dale began work for the State of Iowa as the Power Plant Manager for the Mt. Pleasant Correctional Institute. Dale retired after 30+ years of service. He worked for a time for Iowa Wesleyan University after his job at the prison.
Dale taught courses in handgun carry and conceal. He was a member of the NRA and the AMHA – American Miniature Horse Association. He also belonged to a Jeep club, as he loved to drive his Jeep. In his other spare time, Dale could be found antiquing and scouring parcels of land with his metal detector.
Survivors include his three children, Mark McSorley, and his wife, Gina of New London, Kayle Langas of Dubuque and Kim White, and her husband, Tony of Indianola; a brother, Joe McSorley, and his wife, Pam; and a sister, Cindy Cozine, all of Winfield; and eight grandchildren.
His parents precede him in death.
