Dana Ann Knapp was born October 16, 1945, in Benton County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Wilson) Lippincott. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Dana was united in marriage to Raymond Knapp in November of 1965. They later divorced. Dana was a homemaker and also owned White Glove Cleaners. Dana enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and spending time with family. She was known as the dumpster diving queen when the U of I students were done with the school year, she had a warehouse full of good stuff that she gave away to anybody that was needing things. Dana was a kind hearted lady that would do anything for anybody. Dana died Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Iowa City at the age of 79 years.
She is survived by her companion Sam White of Iowa City; five children, Dion Knapp of Sturgis, SD, Daun Knapp of Kalona, Sheila Gronewold of Parnell, Bonnie Meketsy of Marengo, and Steven Knapp of South English; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles, Dennis, Jeffrey, Chris, sister Sharon, great granddaughter Abigale and son-in-law Mike Hanson.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. Burial will be at the Koszta Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home Marengo. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
