Daniel G. Peters, 85, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Memorial Service with Masonic Rites will be held at a later date with burial in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Twin Lakes Country Club in memory of Dan. Daniel George Peters was born on October 5, 1940, and as he always said, at home behind the couch in Cotter, Iowa, the son of Jarrett and Alice (Isom) Peters. He attended Cotter School and graduated from Columbus Community School. On December 3, 1960, Dan was united in marriage to Anita Ross at the Winfield Methodist Church. Dan owned and operated Dan’s Plumbing and Heating for 41 years in Winfield. He was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, Columbus City Masonic Lodge #107, KAABA Shriners, Louisa County Shriners, Columbus Junction Sons of the American Legion #100, Winfield Chamber of Commerce, Board of the Twin Lakes Country Club, where he volunteered many hours and enjoyed playing cards.
Dan will be deeply missed by his wife, Anita of Winfield; daughter, Terri (Greg) Townsend of Moweaqua, Illinois; grandchildren, Collin (Lauren) Townsend of Assumption, Illinois and Rachel Townsend of Glen Carbon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Greenleigh and Crew Townsend; and siblings, Sharon Mapel of Columbus Junction and Sadie Gevock of Washington.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin Peters and Louie Peters and sisters, Patricia Neece and Karen Pierce.
