Daniel Thomas Christy, 23, of Bonaparte, died at 6:24 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Harmony Middle School in Farmington where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Harmony Middle School in Farmington with Rev. Paul Rekward and Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be at Bonaparte Cemetery in Bonaparte. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory of Farmington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born Jan. 31, 1984 in Keosauqua, he was the son of Thomas Burton and Sherry Jane Mellinger Christy. Daniel graduated Harmony High School in 2002 and Southeastern Community College in 2004 with a degree in precision machining. He received his Journeyman's card as a mold maker while working at Riverside Plastics in Bonaparte. Currently, Daniel worked as a tool maker at Advanced Machinist Automation in Mt. Pleasant, and served on the Bonaparte Fire Department.
Daniel was a social member of Tau Kappa Epsilon of Culver Stockton College. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, four-wheeling, playing slow-pitch softball, hunting, fishing and being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Sherry Christy of Bonaparte; one sister, Wendy Christy of Bonaparte; one brother, Scott Brown of Donnellson; his maternal grandmother, Letha Mellinger of Keosauqua; his fiancée, Amy Kruse of Hillsboro; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack and Ruth Christy and maternal grandfather, Russell Mellinger.
