Daniel Woolley
Daniel Woolley, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Henry County Health Center.
According to his wishes, Mr. Woolley's body has been cremated. A visitation will be held beginning at noon Friday, Jan. 4, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be no memorial service.

Born May 7, 1928, in Peoria, Ill., Dan was the son of Dan Sr. and Ruth Young Woolley. On Oct. 12, 1946, he married Mary Jane Ross. They were later divorced.
Dan served in the United States Army Airborne from 1946 to 1949. As a jump master, he taught young men to pack parachutes and jump from airplanes, along with making many jumps himself.
Dan lived in the Burlington and Mediapolis area where he was a truck driver for Frudeger's Bakery and Don Oberman. He was a laborer at W.G. Block in Burlington. Dan moved to Colorado and worked for Goodyear Tire Company and was co-owner of Craig Tire Mileage. In 1966, Dan returned to Iowa and attended Indian Hills Community College. On Feb. 17, 1971, he married Louise Young Wandling in Riverside, Calif.
Mr. Woolley became controller at Henry County Memorial Hospital. He was also controller at hospitals in Franklin County, Clinton, and Mission Bay, Calif. He was controller for Kolbeck Industries in San Diego and administrator at the Chula Vista Medical Clinic in Chula Vista. Dan spent six years in Missouri raising cattle, retired in 1996, and returned to Mt. Pleasant.
Dan enjoyed golfing, baseball, football, and basketball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He traveled to Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Alaska, enjoying each of those trips.
Along with his wife, Louise, Dan is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Gross and her husband John of Iowa City and Jeannine Eltrich and her husband Bruce of Salem; two sons, Michael Woolley of Glenwood Springs, Colo. and Richard Woolley of Longmont, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Sydney Calhoun and her husband Denny of O'Fallon, Mo. and Susan Swailes of New London; one step-son, Steve Wandling of Mt. Pleasant; and one brother, David Woolley and his wife Dorothy of Portland, Ore. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Woolley was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank Woolley.
