Darlene Dorothy Baldosier, 98, of Fairfield died Friday December 27, 2024, at Prestige Care Center of Fairfield. She was born January 24, 1926, the daughter of Anna Rosalee Ivorski. Darlene attended rural schools in Jefferson County and graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1947 as Salutatorian and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught rural school in Washington and Jefferson Counties for eleven years before her marriage to Carl Baldosier on June 21, 1958, in East Pleasant Plain. Darlene was a lifelong resident of Penn Township, Jefferson County and lived on the farm where she was born until 1985 when she and her husband moved to East Pleasant Plain. After her husband's death she moved to CALU Apartments in Fairfield. in 2006.
She was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed helping with their many functions. Darlene was a Charter member of the Polishville Association, and rejoiced to see the area develop into a place of peace and beauty. Her other activities were sewing, making quilts, and creating scrap craft gifts for family and friends. The greatest joy of her life was her family.
Darlene is survived by two daughters: Stephany Harward (Scott) of Fairfield, Constance Martin (Matt) of Woodland Park, Colorado and daughter-in-law Nancy Baldosier of Mason City Iowa; two granddaughters Holly Harward and Brandi Gobeli (Troy) , two grandsons Matthew Martin, and Brian Baldosier (Denise), 7 great grandchildren, Danny, Shelby and Anna Baldosier, Cree, Cheyanne, Caleb and Carly Gobeli. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Michelena (Helen) Jaworski, her mother Anna Ivorski, husband Carl and stepson Larry Baldosier.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday January 2, 2025, at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Louis Leonhardt officiating. Burial will follow at the Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Polishville. A Rosary will be held Wednesday afternoon at the church beginning at 3 P.M. followed by visitation until 4:30 P.M. Memorials have been established for Masses or the perpetual care fund for the Polishville Cemetery and may be left at the church or mailed to the family: Stephany Harward, 2506 West Burlington Avenue, Fairfield, IA 52556. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
