Darlene was born on September 26, 1941, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of John Raymond and Emma Marie (Moudry) Pecinovsky. She grew up in the Lawler area and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1959. On September 9, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ron Sieren in Iowa City, Iowa, and together they had three children. They later divorced after 20 years of marriage.
Darlene had been a resident of Washington since 1968. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Washington County Mental Health Center for over 20 years, retiring in 2007. Before her marriage, she worked at the University of Iowa Hospital. In addition to raising their children, she supported Ron in the operation of United Suppliers Chemical Company.
Proud of her Czech heritage, Darlene was proficient in the Czech language and traveled to the Czech Republic in 1999. She attended the United Methodist Church and enjoyed yardwork, tending to her flowers, listening to music, and playing cards. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Barb) Sieren of rural Fairfield, Iowa; daughter, Kimberly (Larry) Goudzwaard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and son, Chad Sieren of Keota, Iowa; grandchildren: Maitland, Olivia, Ty, Chelsea, Dallas, and Gavin; and great-grandchildren: Paisley, Remi, Brinleigh, and Lincoln.
