Darrell Borchardt May 19, 1942 - February 16, 2004

Darrell Lee "Turk" Borchardt, 61 of Wayland, formerly of Washington, died on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at his home.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland, with the Rev. Robert Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20 at the church, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Great River Hospice or A-Plastic Anemia MD Foundation. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy Borchardt of Iowa City, and Thomas and his wife Julie Borchardt of Ankeny; a daughter, Tammy and her husband John Sybil of Wayland; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a sister, Ione Nelson of Welcome.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Lavere, Theodore and Jerald.
