Daryl Bixby

COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Daryl DeWayne Bixby, 59, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Immediately following the funeral services at the funeral home, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Pleasant Grove Community Church of God. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Mr. Bixby was born July 24, 1957, in Muscatine, the son of Lewis and Wilma (Reid) Bixby. He married Pamela Knaack on Aug. 16, 1986, in Washington. The couple later divorced. He married Mary Ellen Thornton on March 31, 2007, in Wapello.

He worked for HON in Muscatine. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Muscatine and belonged to several Pool leagues. He enjoyed shooting pool, hunting, fishing, hunting for mushrooms, and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife Mary of Columbus Junction; three children, John Wayne Thornton and wife Miranda of Winfield, Natasha Olson and husband Josh of Stanwood, and Sara Jones of Columbus Junction; six grandchildren; his parents, of Columbus Junction; three brothers, Rodney Bixby of Columbus Junction, Jerry Bixby and wife Alice of Columbus City, and Lonnie Bixby and wife Shelby of Columbus Junction; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
