Daryl E. Longer

      Daryl E. Longer, age 80, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.

      Celebration of Life services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Jones -Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Don Collings officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Sunday July 24, at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established for Prairie Flower Baptist Church or Iowa City Hospice.

      Mr. Longer was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Washington County to Charles Roy and Geneva Lucille (Evans) Longer. He married Marjorie R. Benson on Oct. 15, 1947, at Prairie Flower Baptist Church in Washington.
