David C. Houser
David Charles Houser, 79, of Cedaredge, Colo., died Sunday, Dec. 9, at his home.
A musical tribute honoring his life will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 12, at Cedaredge Community Center.

He was born Sept. 25, 1928 at Fort Lewis Army Base in Pierce, Wash., the son of Ralph Browning and Ruth Hayes Houser. On Oct. 9, 1950, he married Deloris Douthart in Bloomfield.
His childhood was spent in Washington and Bonaparte. He attended junior high and graduated from high school in Bonaparte. In 1946, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, and served with the First Marine Air Wing; earning the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1949.
He worked for 20 years in cable TV and traveled across the United States. He and his family settled in Montana, where he retired after 16 years as an electrician for the Burlington Northern Railroad. David and Deloris moved to Cedaredge, Colo., where they have spent the last ten years.
He played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica, and was a master storyteller. He always participated in the local Hootenanny and Jamboree.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Russell Houser and his wife KC and Forrest Houser and his wife Cherrye Houser, all of Evergreen, Colo.; one brother, Ralph B. Houser, Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; and one half-brother; Gordon Shadle of Colby, Kan.
His parents, son Fred, half-brother Glen Shadle, and a grandson preceded him in death.
