David G. Eastin December 2, 1926 - July 8, 2005

David G. Eastin, 78, of Farmington, died at 11:23 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

      The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, with the Rev. Phillip Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the Embury Cemetery near Donnellson. A memorial has been established to the Embury Cemetery Association.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, David Eastin of Fort Madison, Dale and his wife Nancy Eastin and Melvin and his wife Guy Ann Eastin, all of Farmington, and Gayle Eastin of Arkansas; a daughter, Julie and her husband Raymond Oaks of Arkansas; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy and her husband Tom Overby of Waukegan, Ill., and Shirley Schplousky of Wichita, Kan.; and a brother, Rex Eastin of Texas.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a great-grandson.
