WAYLAND ? David Henry Wenger, 77, of Wayland, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 10, at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with the Rev. Pam Gerig Unruh officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the church, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to Rich and Kathy Stuebing, lifelong friends who have served as missionaries in Zambia for over 40 years. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Wenger was born March 30, 1938, at his parents? farmhouse in Washington County, the son of Emery and Mary (Roth) Wenger. He married Arlene Yoder on June 15, 1963.
He attended country school before graduating from Olds High School in 1956. He attended Hesston College for two years and then served in 1-W at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., for two years. He and his wife started farming west of Swedesburg in 1963 and farmed for over 50 years. He was an active member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid car collector and especially enjoyed going to car shows.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene, of Wayland; three children, Kevin Wenger and wife Dorothy of Mount Pleasant, Jan Kauffman and husband John of Monroeville, Ind., and Jon Wenger and wife Ginger of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Gingerich and husband Keith of North English, Beulah Steiner and husband Jerry of Wooster, Ohio, and Mary Headings and husband Mark of Wooster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant granddaughter.
