David J. Gehringer

David J. Gehringer, 70, died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Great River Medical Center.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church of West Burlington with Fr. Gerald Stouvenel officiating. Visitation will be after noon Tuesday, Oct. 3, with the family present and a Christian wake service from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial to Notre Dame High School has been established.

      Mr. Gehringer was born April 3, 1930, in Warren County, the son of I.J. and Nelle Frances Ryan Gehringer. He graduated from St. Paul?s Catholic High School in Burlington in 1947 and served in the army during the Korean War. He was vice-president of the installment loan department at Burlington Bank and Trust for 20 years and then worked at the Henry County Bank in Green Rock, Ill.

      Survivors include four sons, Ryan T. Gehringer of rural New London and John J., Thomas A., and Mark Gehringer of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Louise Christian of Wiliamston, Mich., Geneva Morrison of rural Burlington, and Dorothy Welcher of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Joseph Gehringer of Burlington; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
