David John Mello, 76, of Batavia, Iowa, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at the Jefferson County Health Center. As were his wishes, his body had been cremated. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, Iowa.

David John Mello, a fourth-generation, native Californian, was born June 22, 1943, in Sonoma Calif., to John A. and Della Machado Mello. David leaves Vickie, his wife of 23 years; two sons, Dan (Lori) of Arkansas and Pete (Amber) of Washington State; one daughter, Michelle (Rakesh) of Menlo Park, Calif.; one step-daughter, Sarah (John) Olson of Blakesburg, Iowa; as well as six grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters, Elaine Costa and Eleanor Schultz, both of California.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John and Della; and an older sister, Eileen Mays.
