David P. Cummings, 74, of Burlington, died on Christmas, December 25, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born January 14, 1947, he was the son of Hugh and Anna Lea Meyerholz Cummings.

Family and friends were most important. He entertained all of us with his stories, his observations and understandings of life. He had a quest for adventure and lived his life accordingly. He taught us all that survival, history and story telling becomes our reality. We thank him for his strength and courage to "Be Yourself" and not be in judgment of others. His legacy will not be forgotten. We dearly thank the staff at Prairie Ridge Rehab in Mediapolis for their care, concern and understanding.

Survivors include one brother, Michael Cummings of Tallangatta, Victoria, Australia, and his family, Kerri, Jay, Justin, Emma and four grandchildren; one sister, Pam Hazell of Washington, IA, and her family, Patrick, Bill, Jon, David, Aira and seven grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be planned this summer at the Tradewinds Cabin on the Mississippi.
