Dawn A. Shacklett

Dawn A. Shacklett, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Nov. 8, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union, with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating.

Dawn was born June 3, 1923 in Taintor, the daughter of Arthald and Lena White Hull. On Dec. 29, 1945, she married Gene R. Shacklett in Oskaloosa.

A graduate of What Cheer High School, she owned and operated Keen Kutter Hardware and Dawn's Pic 'N' Paint Ceramics with her husband for many years. She enjoyed doing crafts, painting and ceramics, and taught craft classes.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Richard Shacklett of Des Moines; a daughter, Karilyn Prottsman and her husband Jon of Coralville; a sister, Lois Powell of Sac City; a brother, Glynn Hull of Kerrville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, brother Dwight Hull, and sister Marilyn Klisares preceded her in death.
