Dawson Reese Stutzman was born Nov. 27, 2004. in Hibbing. Minn. He attended Mid Prairie. Dawson enjoyed getting read to, art, music, interacting with other children and being outdoors.Dawson passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at his home after a lengthy courageous battle with Infantile Batten Disease in the loving arms of his mom at the age of 17.

He is survived by his parents, Rosanna and Jerry Shirkey; a brother, Jagger; a sister, Isla, all of Washington; his grandparents, Leon and Jean Stutzman of Kalona and Donna Shirkey of Wellman; his Godmother (his second mommy) Rachel Kongshaug; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Dan Shirkey; and a cousin, Isaiah Crew.

Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
