Deanne Sue Leu, 72, of Fairfield, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at her home.

She was born Sept. 17,

1946, in Burlington to Clemmet Dean and Winnona Evelyn Tolander Hester. She was a 1962 graduate of New London High School and lived in Fairfeld for the past 24 years near her family. Deanne was a longtime member of the New London Christian Church and attended First Christian Church in Fairfield. For 25 years, she worked as a housekeeping supervisor at New London Care Center, retiring in 1998. Her family and grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano when she was younger.

Survivors include daughter, Cindy (Brian) Veldhuizen of Fairfield; son, Randy Leu of Burlington; brothers, Terry (Mary) Hester of New London and Mike (Robin) Hester of Salisbury, Md.; six grandchildren, Amanda (Mark) Kraft, Brandin (Samantha) Lange, Adam (Ali) Veldhuizen, Melissa (Kevin) Patel, Haley Leu and Leah Persinger; five great-grandchildren, Dalton and Emma Lange, Knox Lange and Hannah and Cooper Kraft; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Andy Veldhuizen.

The funeral service for Deanne Leu will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London with the Rev. Diane Brokken officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church of Fairfield.
