Delane Craig
Delane Everett Craig, 78, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in Windmill Manor in Coralville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 4, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Wesley.
Mr. Craig was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Ducktown, Tennessee, the son of John and Reathel (Cole) Craig. He married DeLores Monson on Jan. 1, 1957, in Ainsworth.
He worked on high lines for 50 years for LE Meyers in Chicago, Illinois, and Marshalltown. He and his wife lived in Washington all their married life, and owned and operated The Chocolate Shop in Washington and Delano?s in Ainsworth and Brighton. He was a member of the IBEW Union and in his earlier years was a Golden Glove boxer. After he couldn?t box anymore, he trained younger boxers.
Surviving are his wife, DeLores, of Washington; one brother, Darrell Craig and wife Brenda of Bluegrass; one sister, Helen Bowman of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Zane, and Rosmond ?Pewee? Craig; and one sister, Delores Stepp.
