Delbert Duane Prottsman, 85, of Franklin, North Carolina and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Mission Hospital in Ashville, North Carolina.

A funeral service for Delbert will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, with Military Rites conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard of Omaha, NE. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. Delbert was born December 1, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of Charles and Juanita (Sherman) Prottsman. He attended Mt. Pleasant schools until his senior year when his family moved. He graduated from high school in Missouri and enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 5, 1957. On June 1, 1958 in Warner Robbins, GA, Delbert was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Powell.

Delbert served 20 years in the Air Force in LSI – the Office of Special Investigation. He was honorably discharged as an Air Force retiree with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Delbert then worked 6 years as the Supply Manager for Anchor Glass in Warner Robbins. He returned to Mt. Pleasant and worked on the former Blue Bird Bus Company assembly line. Delbert then moved to Bastrop, TX and was a Lieutenant in a security company. He retired some 20 years ago and settled in Franklin, North Carolina.

While his children participated in sports, he volunteered to coach many of their teams. In his spare time, Delbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.

Those thankful for sharing in his life include his wife of 64 years, Marjorie of Franklin; 2 daughters – Cheryl (Brian) Van Buskirk of Morganton, NC, and Pennie Lynn (Christopher) Jobe of Franklin; a sister, Joan (Curt) Nehring of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren – Rachel, Joseph, Nicholas, Haylie, and Zak; and 2 great-grandchildren – Raelynn and Rebecca.

His parents, a son – Johnny Prottsman; and a brother – Charles Howard Prottsman, Jr. preceded Delbert in death.
