Delbert I. Nelson March 1, 1914 - June 19, 2005

Delbert I. (Dick) Nelson, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died peacefully, with family at his side, at 12:50 p.m., on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

      Visitation for Mr. Nelson will be held on Wednesday, June 22, beginning after 2:00 p.m., at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. Committal services and burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. that same day at the Old Stone Cemetery southwest of Mediapolis, Iowa. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and the Foundation for Paget's Disease.

      Survivors include his wife, Verda; three daughters, Jackie Wagler of Omaha, NE, Sondra and her husband Lynn Cochran of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Nancy and her husband Mark Staal of Pewaukee, WI; one son, James Nelson and his wife Barbara of South Glastonbury, CT; and one sister Helen Zaiss of Burlington, IA. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

      Mr. Nelson has been preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Anderson and Ethel Lister.
