Delores Mae Newlon 88, after a short illness died peacefully April 18, 2023, at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Delores was born on October 6, 1934, to Louise A. and Roy G. Nelson in the Jefferson County hospital. After attending Jefferson County rural schools, she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953. After graduating from beauty college in Ottumwa, she worked as a beautician in Fairfield. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Newlon, September 29, 1955, in Ottumwa, Iowa. They made their home and raised their family in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Larry served in the Air Force. Delores and Larry made many friends in Lincoln where they continued to work and make their home after Larry’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force.

Delores is survived by her husband, Larry; sons, Tony and Scott; one grandchild, Scott Jr., all of Lincoln; sister, Wilma McCreedy of Packwood; brother, Marvin Nelson of Fairfield; and sister-in-law, Lea Anne Mathews of Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen (Holt); mother and father-in-law, Mae and Emert Newlon; and brother-in-law, Lel Newlon.

Her ashes were placed alongside her parents in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. Only the immediate family was present.
