Dennie Smith

Dennie William Smith, 65, of Washington, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at Washington County Hospital after failing health.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lebowski?s Rock n Bowl in Washington Friday, Sept. 30. Memorials may be made to the family. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is assisting the family.

Smith was born April 12, 1951, in Washington, the son of Joseph Oliver and Ruth Ellen Volger Smith. He grew up in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1969.

He held many jobs in his life, truck driver, barber, and factory worker to name a few. He loved animals and the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and golf.

Surviving are his children, Kristi Smith and husband Shane of Ladora, and Daniel Smith and fiance Tasha Knerr of Washington; two grandchildren; sisters, Connie Shelangoski and husband Paul and Nancy Kelly, of Brighton; and two brothers, Tim Smith and wife Mary of Brighton and Jack Smith and wife Kathie of Washington; several nieces, nephews, friends, and a special friend Sandy Walling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Ambrose and Shirley Gordon; and three brothers, Gary, Jerry, and Ricky Smith.
