Dennis Clair Adam, 89, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his home.
Open Visitation will be 9
to 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church and from noon to 1 p.m. a visitation with family
present.
Mass with Christian
burial will start at 1 p.m.
with Father Nick Adam officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Harper, IA.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Stained Glass Fund and mailed to Betty Adam, 1223 Glenview Circle, Fairfield, IA 52556.
Dennis was born March 8, 1932, in Harper, IA, to "AJ" Aloysius and Loretta (Lampe) Adam. He married Janeene Meyers and later passed away in 1960. Dennis married Betty Beinhart Grant on July 31, 1981, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
Dennis was in the Army and National Guard during the Korean War. He farmed near Harper, IA, for many years and after retiring from farming he worked 14 years at Jefferson County Fair Grounds. Dennis was a rock hound and made jewelry. He also made stained glass lamp shades, collected antique furniture and refinished it. Dennis and Betty traveled a lot with the Heritage Club. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Dennis will be missed by his wife, Betty of Fairfield; three children, Denise (Harold) Clark of Oskaloosa, IA, Perry Grant of Parkview, IA, and Patrick (Robin) Grant of Fulton, MD; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas Grant, Regan Grant, Ty Grant, Gavin Grant, Sydney Grant, Nancy Clark and Penelope (Neal) Molenburg; great-grandchildren, Caleb Clark, Bradlee (Laura) Clark, Dustin Tschudy, Isaac Farrar, Nicholas Tschudy, Brenden Farrar, Jacob Molenburg, Ethan Molenburg, Griffen Molenburg, Josh (Allison) Tschudy and Alexandra Tschudy; one great-great-grandchild, Emmit Farrar; and one sister, Vivian Peiffer of Derby, KS.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, "AJ" Aloysius and Loretta; 1st wife, Janeene Adam; one brother, Vernon Adam; and one sister, Betty Ledger.
