Dennis Ellis

KEOTA ? Dennis ?Butch? Ellis, 77, of Keota, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Keota Health Care Center.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Keota Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for Keokuk County Hospice or the Keota Food Pantry. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ellis was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Mount Pleasant.

He received his education in Keota Schools. He had served in the Army. He was an avid fisherman, loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed NASCAR racing.

Surviving are two children, Tony Ellis and wife Laurie of Ankeny, and Trisha Meyer and husband Rick of Austin, Minnesota; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Barbara Gore of Manning, Dorothy Schwab of Keota, Sally Snow of Keota, Mildred Yoder of Wellman, Donna Baker of Fremont, Nebraska, and Beverly Butner of Fremont, Nebraska; and three brothers, Larry Ellis of Keota, Terry Ellis of West Chester, and Richard Ellis of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Georgia Ellis; and four brothers-in-law.
