Dolores Ann ?Cookie? Conrad Pacha, 82, of rural Richland, entered into rest, after a fight against an extended illness for more than 5 years, August24th, 2016 in Washington, IA
She was born September 8, 1933 in Harper, IA to Cyril Ralph ?Cooney? and Anna Marie Schultz Conrad. Dolores lived in her Grandmother Conrad?s house until at the age of nine, her family moved to Brighton where she graduated from Brighton High School in 1951. She worked for the Brighton Locker, in Des Moines for an insurance company, and after marrying, she worked for a brief time at Farm Service Association in Fairfield, IA. She married Cletus Eugene (Grin) Pacha at St Joseph?s church in East Pleasant Plain, IA May 14, 1954. He died November 30, 2013. She was a devoted mother, homemaker, and kept the books for the farm. She participated in the work of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph?s Church in East Pleasant Plain as well as supporting Trojan sports activities. She appreciated beauty and order, enjoyed baking, making toffee candy and chocolate Easter baskets for holidays, attending Trojan and Hawkeye sports events, growing flowers, and later delighting in time spent with her granddaughters as ?Grandma?. Above all, ?Cookie? was a lady, sweet and thoughtful, considerate of others, with a gentle demeanor that drew people to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra J. Pacha of Washington, two sons: David C. Pacha of Columbus, Georgia and Patrick E. Pacha (Tina) of Washington, two granddaughters: Katelyn and Kelsey, sister, Marolyn Shirkey of Harper and Ronald MacArthur Conrad (Sandy) of Washington. Her parents, husband and two sisters: Bonnie Conrad and Betty Drish, a half brother Wilfred Schultz, and an infant brother Lawrence Frederick preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday August 29, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 2-4 P.M. Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph Church. Memorials to Iowa City Hospice may be left at the church or mailed to Sandra Pacha, 1113 East Adams, Washington, IA, 52353.
