Don Kruse

Don Kruse, 50, of West Point, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, at his home.

      Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in West Point, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, with Frs. Gary Beckman and Apo Mpanda officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Houghton.

      A memorial has been established in his memory.

      Don was born Jan. 26, 1957 in Fort Madison, the son of Cletus and Bernice Moeller Kruse. On April 9, 1983, he married Angie Jacobsmeier in Houghton. An avid St Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry and making people laugh.

      He is survived by his wife and parents; his daughter, Ashley Kruse of West Des Moines; three sisters, Joyce Boeding and her husband Fred of West Point, Eileen Medland and her husband Ed of West Point, and Mary Lynn Stogner of New Ulm, Texas; two brothers, Dave Kruse and his wife Nancy of West Point and Carl Kruse and his wife Diane of Salem; his mother-in-law, Irene Jacobsmeier of Houghton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

      His brother, Bob Kruse, and father-in-law Joe Jacobsmeier preceded him in death.
