DONALD "DON" IRWIN BROBSTON

Donald "Don" Irwin Brobston, 81, of Libertyville, passed away June 27, 2021, at Jefferson County Health Center. Masonic service to start at 5 p.m. and visitation for family and friends to follow until 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville with Pastor John D. Boatman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, Libertyville, or Killwinning Lodge #338 Masons, Batavia. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Deb Brobston, 307 S. Main St., Libertyville, IA 52567.

Don was born May 3, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa, to Richard Merle and Evelyn (Overholser) Brobston. He married Judith Elain Mallonee in Libertyville on Feb. 7, 1958. This year they celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Don graduated from the University of Iowa in 1982 receiving his engineering degree. He worked 38 years at Dexter Company as an industrial engineer. Don was a member of the Kilwinning Lodge No. 338 Masons and Faith United Methodist Church. He self-taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed listening to country music. Some of Don's outside interests were hunting, fishing, looking for mushrooms and playing golf. Don was always doing remodeling jobs. He was an Iowa Hawkeye football and Patriots football fan. Every evening he would watch the news. Most important was spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He will be missed by his wife, Judith of Libertyville; his children, Daniel Brobston of Birmingham, Deborah Brobston of Libertyville and daughter–in-law, Joyce Brobston of Norwalk, Iowa; six grandchildren, Aaron (Amber) Brobston, Amy Brobston, Alex Brobston, Sam Brobston, Matt (Staci) Brobston and Tony Brobston; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom (Karen) Brobston of Gerlaw, Ill.,and Robert (Shirley) Brobston of Franklin, Tenn.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn; son, Scott; and two brothers, Dickie Lee and Jim (Marie).
