Don Charles Teninty was born on July 1, 1932, in Farson, IA to Everett and Mary Williams Teninty. He attended grade school in Eldon before graduating from Farson High School. Shortly after graduation Don married the love of his life, Marjorie Humble. They would remain by each other’s side for 64 years until Marjorie’s death in 2018. Together they became the loving parents of two children, Jody and Tony. In his early year Don supported the family by farming and raising cattle with his father. He also owned a straight truck that he would haul cattle and grain for himself and other farmers. Don had a love for cars and collecting from an early age. Most of his life was spent buying, selling, and collecting cars. He always enjoyed going to a car auction, often coming home with more cars. One of Don’s favorite pastimes was taking the family and his wrecker to Eldon to help at the races. He was detailed in his driving directions and knew every mile marker of every turn. Don was deeply rooted in his faith and was a longtime member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Batavia. He cared deeply for his family and enjoyed every moment spent with them right up until the very end. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marjorie (2018); a sister, Garnett Heston; two sisters-in-law, Linda Humble and Patricia Fligg and a brother-in-law, Leo Blomme.
Left to honor his memory are his children, Jody (Gary) Trenary of Batavia, IA and Tony (Carrie) Teninty of Ottumwa, IA; seven grandchildren, BJ (Keelee) Medford, Donny (Katie) Teninty, Chloe (Jaxon) Thomas, Hannah Trenary, Kara Trenary, Sean Trenary, and Linkin Trenary; three great-grandchildren, Josephine, Wyatt, and Bentlee; one sister, Helen Blomme, as well as many extended family and friends.
