Donald ?Don? Swartzendruber

      Donald ?Don? Swartzendruber, 64, of Wayland, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Marc Hershberger officating. Visitation was from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery.

      Mr. Swartzendruber was born Aug. 20, 1936, the son of Rolla and Thresa Hershberger Swartzendruber. He married Karen Roth on Oct. 12, 1958, in Wayland. A graduate of Iowa Mennonite Schools, he was the plant manager at Central Soya in Washington for over 30 years and was a member and trustee of Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed family and friends, fishing in Wyoming, camping, and the outdoors.

      Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick and Donna Swartzendruber of Wayland; a daughter, De Anne Swartzendruber of Wayland; and a twin brother Ron and Aldeen Swartzendruber of Worland, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
