Donald Duane Stewart, age 89, of Gladwin, Iowa, passed away at the farm on Friday, May 9, 2025, surrounded by family.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at the Boston Bluff Cemetery in rural Louisa County. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Don was born July 4, 1935, in Washington, Iowa, the son of James and Edna (Richardson) Stewart. He attended school in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960, where he was a demolition specialist during his time in Germany.

Don farmed all of his life north of Columbus Junction near Gladwin, Iowa. He enjoyed NASCAR and telling stories of the good old days.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barb Stewart of Columbus Junction; son, Michael Stewart and wife De ann of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son Stephen Coon and wife Kathy of Columbus Junction, Iowa; daughter, Christine Hamilton of Washington, Iowa; son, Thomas Stewart and wife Traci of Columbus Junction, Iowa; daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Stalder and husband Matt of Washington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Ruckles and husband George of Muscatine, Iowa; and brother, Jim Stewart and wife Lucy of Madison, Missouri.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard Stewart.
