Donald F. Walljasper
Donald F. Walljasper, 62, of West Point, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the St Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Apo T. Mpanda as Celebrant, Burial with full military rites by the West Point American Legion will be in the Calvary Cemetery in West Point.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Born May 18, 1945, he was the son of Francis and Arline Fraune Walljasper. On Dec. 22, 1967, he married Kathleen Dorathy in Alabama. They later divorced.
He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, the West Point Knights of Columbus Council # 2286, the West Point American Legion. He was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, and the American Bowling Congress.
He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, music, fishing, mushroom hunting, dancing to the oldies, and spending his time with family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Dumont and her husband Brad of Phoenix, Ariz., Diane Smith and her husband Todd of West Point, and Debbie Bleything of West Point; one sister, Jean Panther of Tiffin; one brother, Richard Walljasper and his wife Sue of Mt. Pleasant; one niece, two nephews and five grandchildren. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one great nephew, Harrison Walljasper, and his brother-in law Larry Panther.
