Donald Gene Timmins, age 61, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his residence following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the New Hope Mennonite Church in Washington, Iowa, with services conducted by Gabriel Beachy, Elwyn Stutzman and Matt Petersheim. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for New Hope Mennonite Church or Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Donald’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Donald was born June 14, 1963, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Joseph Dean and Nancy Jo (Franklin) Timmins. He attended school in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Washington High School in 1982. On August 28, 1982, Donald married Kimberly Heaton.
Donald spent most of his life in Washington, though he also lived in Kansas, Missouri, and western Iowa. He worked as the manager of Orscheln Farm and Home, and briefly at the McCleary Cumming Company in 1993. In 1994, he partnered with his brother, Bruce, to establish Timmins Brothers, and later worked for Keyway Management. He was a devoted member of New Hope Church, enjoyed woodworking, and treasured the time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kim, of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tara Timmins of Washington, Iowa; grandchildren, Caden and Taylor Timmins of Washington, Iowa; brother, Bruce (Julie) Timmins of Washington, Iowa; twin brother, Dean (Lindy) Timmins of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Debbie Beach (Dennis) of Fremont, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jan Bayliss (Ross) of Fremont, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Harold and Jean Timmins, and grandparents Don and Alice Franklin.
