Donald Harris

MOUNT PLEASANT ? Donald J. Harris, 58, of Crawfordsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, in the Parkview Manor in Wellman from injuries received from a motorcycle accident on July 5, 2015.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. A general memorial has been established.

Mr. Harris was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Washington, the son of Olin and Deloris (Wilson) Harris. He married Patrise Taylor on Feb. 14, 1984. The couple later divorced.

He attended Washington public schools. He joined the Army in 1973 and was stationed in Germany. He worked for many years for the railroad and drove a truck. He enjoyed demolition derbies, riding motorcycles, spending time with his sons and his granddaughters, and a good game of chess.

Surviving are his mother, of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Derek Harris and wife Kaci of Crawfordsville, Dylan Harris of Washington, and Darcey Harris of Washington; four brothers, Roger Harris of Washington, Craig Harris and wife Delrean of Iowa City, Larry Harris of Mount Pleasant, and Shawn Harris of Iowa City; five sisters, Fate Mason of Iowa City, Sharon Bright and husband Ed of Fredonia, Naomie Daneron and husband Bud of Washington, Mary Miller and husband Tim of Mount Pleasant, and Anita Parker and husband Dallas of Trenton; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Olin ?Sonny? Harris; one niece; and one brother-in-law, Scott Hotle.
