Donald Joseph Hellweg

      Donald Joseph Hellweg, 79, of West Point, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with the Rev. Apo T. Mpanda officiating. Burial with full military rites by the West Point American Legion will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

      Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m., a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a wake service will be at 7 p.m.

      Memorials may be made to Donnellson Health Center or Lee County Hospice.

      Mr. Hellweg was born Aug. 16, 1928, in St. Paul, the son of Rudolf and Elizabeth Umthun Hellweg. He married Mary "Jean" Rauenbuehler Aug. 8, 1953, in West Point. She preceded him in death.
