Donald Lamansky
SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. ? Donald ?Don? Paul Lamansky, 75, of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, after a 46-year battle with multiple sclerosis.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Immanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with Dr. Richard Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 4 p.m. until the time of the service, Thursday at the church. A general memorial fund is being established. The Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Lamansky was born July 13, 1941, at the family farmhouse in Brighton, the son of Leroy and Kasylda (Peck) Lamansky. He married Jeanette Dickinson in 1965.
He was a 1959 graduate of Brighton High School, and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. He taught math at JB Young Junior High in Davenport from 1965 to 1970. He created a program for instructional methods and curricula for teaching remedial math that was used in the state for years. While teaching, he was also a football coach, and took pride in two of his former players who went on to play professional football: Curtis Craig, who played for the New England Patriots; and Roger Craig, who played for the San Francisco 49ers. He then became the plant manager at Struthers-Dunn in Bettendorf until 1982. He was born again in the Christian faith in 1981, and was a member of Immanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan. He loved growing in his faith, and he read his Bible every morning and listened to the Bible on CD every night. He loved spending time in the woods, and spent four summers in Oregon working as a forest ranger. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Green Bay Packers. His most favorite time was when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren. Even though he suffered from MS for 46 years, his life was full of joy and he was a true inspiration to everyone he met. He always had a twinkle in his eye as he was concocting a practical joke on someone. He had a quick wit and was always ready with a funny comment.
Surviving are three children, Curtis Lamansky and wife Maria of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, Tamara Lamansky and fiancé Albert Sutton of Davenport, and Debra Mills and husband Peter of Greenville, South Carolina; six grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Arnold of Washington; one brother, James Lamansky and wife Sandra of Boise, Idaho; one brother-in-law, George Davison of Washington; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosalee (Mrs. Keith Farrier), Esther (Mrs. Edward Edwards), Mary Ann Davison, and Susan Lamansky; one brother-in-law, Roger ?Pete? Arnold; and one grandson.
