A graveside memorial service will be held for the late Donald C. Poore, age 76 on June 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery in Winfield. All family friends and classmates are invited to attend. His remains will be buried beside those of his parents.

Donald died February 5, 2019 at his home in Mt. Pleasant. Donald was born November 22, 1942 in Grinnell, Iowa to Willard E. and Vera L. (Gibbs) Poore. The family moved to the farm on the Henry-Louisa county line in 1946 and he attended the Mt. Union School, graduating in 1961. He worked for the neighboring farmers until he started working at Blue-Bird, where he worked for over 40 years. With a time out he served two years in the US Army, training at Fort Leonard Wood and serving in Fulda, Germany.

He attended Iowa Wesleyan College and graduated with a degree in General Studies CUM LAUDA in 2004. He enjoyed bicycle riding and wind surfing in his younger days. He was of the Methodist Faith.

Donald is survived a sister Marjorie and Kendall Neil of Washington; one brother Denis Aldridge of Castroville, California; three nieces and four nephews and many great nieces and nephews and cousins.
